- This might seem a little strange, but, I have SupraFAX 288 modems here
- (1.300-13), and someone is dialing in on them with a MegaHertz 28k8 PCMCIA
- modem.
-
- The Supra's are located in the Netherlands, Europe. The person dialing
- in was previously located in the US. The connection establishment was not
- exactly snappy, the handshake took fairly long, like 30 seconds, but eventually
- an agreement was reached and a carrier found.
-
- Now, this same person/modem is in the Netherlands as well (all digital
- phone switches here). And he tries to make connections with the exact
- same PCMCIA modem. However, now, the handshake terminates early in most
- cases. The Supra consistently says that there was a carrier loss (note,
- it *doesn't* say that the protocols where incompatible).
- The Supra's, with their current settings, connect just fine to a great
- number of modems, so I'd rather not mess with those.
-
- The question now is, what could be causing this? Note that every once in a
- while, a connection *is* made.
-
- Could it be that the transmit level is too high of the PCMCIA modem?
-
- Anyway, I sadly do not have a manual handy of the PCMCIA modem (it's in the
- US). This is the information that I could extract from the modem itself:
-
- ATI0 MHZ AT&T V.34 CELL + ETC + Autosync + HOMOL + 1634 + Class 1 & 2
- FAX/MODEM
- ATI1 032
- ATI2 ROM IS OK
- ATI3 ACOOA
- ATI4 Mfr=MEGAHERTZ
- CmdSet=MHZ_AV
- Mod=V.34
- Fax=1,2
- ErrC=V.42,MNP
- OK
- ATI5 022
- OK
- ATI6 AC288DPL REV AC
- OK
-
- On the modem it says something like "MegaHertz" modem. It's a 28k8 and it
- makes v.34 connections by default.
-
- Any words of wisdom? AT commands I could try to change the configuration?
